The Happy Burr is designed to be a "happy medium." It will reduce nearly all heavy nails and excrescence. It is designed to use in normal forward rotation, but it will also debride, if the drill is in reverse rotation. There is a cutting surface on the distal end of the burr, which can be used for large nail grooves, nuclei, and extensive heloma mollie. Start with this burr on a patient who has heavy callus tissue or quite thick nails. Use light brush strokes across the surface as if you were painting a picture. On the last pass over the nail, move the burr in a sweeping/diagonal motion; this will remove the very thin grooves in the nail. Watch carefully while using this burr; it reduces tissue quickly. It won't take long and you will see why we call this the HAPPY Burr! | |
